Kerr Bay (2013-07-31)

N 44° 10.057', W 076° 43.375'

Just a quick post for tonight.  We had a long day's travel getting back to Kingston, and decided to settle into Kerr Bay on Amherst Island for the night.  This has been an anchorage we've wanted to try for a long time, and our first impressions of it are quite positive.

We've got a couple items to pick up at Marine Outfitters, but we were too late getting in today, and with the forecasted rain tomorrow it will probably be Friday before we get in there.  Probably just as well.  It gives us the illusion that we haven't already spent a bunch more money in a marine supplies store... :-)

Here's yet another anchorage panorama, showing our neighbours.  There are two boats on mooring balls, and seven other boats at anchor.

One of these days I'm going to have to find out just what the regulations are for dropping mooring balls in public water.  I've seen a lot of private mooring balls around and it kind of baffles me that you can seemingly drop one pretty much anywhere you like.

The Cruise Director requested that I include the following pic in tonight's post.  I wasn't sure what to give it for a caption, but I think this works... :-)

  1. Pretty spot. Good question about the mooring balls, I know in Bermuda (ya ya bad example) each had to be registered and have a yearly sticker put on them. Is there licensing rules on them here? Then you need something like an engine block to put on the bottom with chain and rope. Might be more hassle then it's worth.
