A short pause

Another trip to Ottawa for Canada Day is now in the books.  We're home now for a few days with some boat and house projects to take care of before we head out sometime next week.

We left Ottawa on Wednesday, 03 July 2013, at a leisurely hour of 1100 for a short day's travel up the river to the lower dock at Long Island locks near Manotick.  This is one of our favourite spots on the Rideau, so close to home yet it feels like a secluded cottage far away from the bustle of life.

We had the lower docks all to ourselves (2013-07-03)
A quick swim, a nice dinner and a good walk rounded out our evening.

Can any blog have too many sunset pictures like this? :-) (2013-07-03)

On Thursday morning, 04 July 2013, we caught the first up-river locking with another boat, and continued on to our marina, arriving just after lunch time.

All the odds and sods packed into the car and down the road we went back to the house.  It actually felt a little weird driving home.  It seems that my mental picture of "home" has started the shift from the sticks and bricks home to the floaty home.  A bit of a surprise that, and kind of neat... :-)
