Hallowell Mills Cove Anchorage (2013-07-21)

N 44° 01.992', W 077° 08.145'

The houses along Parrot's Bay were a buzz with activity yesterday, and many people were enjoying a nice summer Saturday evening.  A couple hours after sunset most of the parties finished up, with only a few loud people carrying on for a bit after that.  Once all the revellers had passed out, Parrot's Bay was actually quite peaceful.

The new anchor performed flawlessly, and other than a couple anchor checks through the night we slept quite well.

In the morning we decided to go do some exploring in Parrot's Bay before we left, so we took the dinghy ashore.

A little mid-morning exploration

There's quite a large conservation area there, but we didn't go too far, as we were a bit reluctant to leave the dinghy unattended.

Soon after we were back on the boat with the dinghy stowed and ready to travel.  Our travel plan for the day was for a short day, heading deeper into the Bay of Quinte, looking for an anchorage named Hallowell Mills Cove, a short distance north of Picton.

When we arrived there was a Pearson 33 sailboat already there.  They were only there for the afternoon though, and just before 1800 then pulled up their anchor and headed towards Picton, leaving the anchorage all to us.

The moon rising

We had a little bit of bumpiness from all the boats that zoom past this spot, but just after sunset they all went home and the slight breeze that was blowing stopped, leaving the water as smooth as glass.

Tomorrow we're planning on pushing through the rest of the Bay of Quinte and in to Trenton.
