Nick and Wendy on M/V Corvette Conversion IV made the 0900 Kingston bridge opening, and we were waiting for them by the buoy at RMC. As they passed by we fell in behind them and headed west out of Kingston.

We made pretty good time and soon we were passing the west end of Amherst Island and making the turn for the west gap and Lake Ontario. Mother Nature was kind to us today and the lake was calm.

By about 1300 we were entering Waupoos Marina. After being assigned a slip we docked and got tied up and then went over to help M/V Corvette Conversion IV get into their slip.

After getting the boat sorted we borrowed a couple bikes from the marina (they keep a number of bikes that marina guests can borrow) and headed off to tour a couple of the wineries.

After returning from our tour we adjourned to our friend's boat for a couple docktails before calling it a day.

Sounds like you are having a great time. I`m assuming for now that internet access isn't a big problem since you are close enough to home to use your cell plan internet for blogging. At some point during your travels, I'd like to read on how you manage to keep connected and blogging.
ReplyDeleteYes, we're using our cell data for the most part, but we're still adjusting usage behaviours to the 6GB limit of the plan. We went over last month and it looks like we will again this month. The good thing is it's only $10 per GB we're over, so it's not breaking the bank as we tune this down. We're also looking at a lot more Starbucks and MacDonalds visits as well. :-)
DeleteWe also have a ubiquiti bullet based wifi amp (http://islandtimepc.com/marine_wifi.html) but I haven't installed it yet. We'll see how many open wifi hotspots we manage to find, but we're optimistic.
For the future, we're planning on getting a US cell phone with data, and the same when we get to the Bahamas.
It was great meeting you both. Hopefully our paths will cross again, and we will be following you adventures with envy.
ReplyDeleteWill & Joy Moyle
We were very happy to meet you. We ended up going back up to the Bay of Quinte, but hopefully our paths will cross when you swing back towards the Thousand Islands.
DeleteI was hoping you had better luck with Lake Ontario than we did, but after reading your last blog post it looks like you guys had it worse. We only had to put up with getting beat up by the lake for an hour.
