Brakey Bay (2013-08-12)

N 44° 13.661', W 076° 13.703'

Tonight finds us peacefully anchored in Brakey Bay, near the eastern end of Wolfe Island, and a much more pleasant spot to spend the night than where we were last evening.

The first thing we noticed was how busy the walkway around the Delta was, well into the late evening, as I had mentioned in the previous post.  The location didn't endear itself to me when I heard one of the passers by urinating into the water behind the boat.  At that point I pretty much decided that this would be the last night we spent on this wall.

The next morning, after a very restless sleep, we decided to go for a walk about before heading out for the day.  After that we cast off and headed into the CFB Kingston Yacht Club to get a water refill.  We had a nice chat with a couple of the guys there that had heard all about us from Chuck and Pete.

After the refill we headed back out and rounded Cedar Island through the Whiskey Island cut.  There we saw that M/V Holidaze and M/V Will N Joy had just pulled in and were tying up.  I gave them a couple toots of the horn and a hearty wave as we motored by.

The trip to Brakey Bay took about 1.5 hours at our leisurely travel pace, and we pulled in to the bay, manoeuvring past three sailboats already at anchor to drop our hook at about 1230.  A nice lunch and then backing down on the anchor and we were done for the day.  We spent the rest of the day just relaxing, with a nap or two thrown in for good measure. :-)

This anchorage was recommended to us by Pete from the CFB KYC on the weekend, and I have to say it's every bit as nice as he said it would be.  Thanks for the recommendation Pete.  I think this will end up being a favourite anchorage for us when we're in this area.
