Newboro (2014-05-17)

N44° 38.756', W76° 19.326'

Today finds us at the dock at Newboro Lock.

The rain came on Friday as forecast, but it stopped raining by noon.  We took a quick look at the weather radar and it looked like the rain was done for the day.  We decided we'd put a few miles under the keel and headed out.  It was cool and cloudy, but other than a bit of mist we managed to make it to Upper Brewers without any rain.

Today dawned clear but cold, and by 0900 we continued on our way.  We went back and forth on whether we'd stop at Newboro or push through to Poonamalie.  In the end we decided to stop at Newboro.  We really liked it here in the summer on our way south so we decided to have another visit.

After supper we went for a walk in Newboro and paid Kilborns another visit.  They still have a very eclectic assortment of goods, many of them a bit 'gag-ish' in nature (pun intended :-)).

Lots of goodies at Kilborns

After our walk we returned to the boat to watch a bit of TV before bed.

Tomorrow we'll continue our homeward trek up the Rideau.  We'll probably look at Merrickville as our stop tomorrow night, and then back to Pirate Cove Marina, and home, on Monday.
