We are now located at the Sunrise marina, in Freeport. This will be our home for the next two weeks, while we host our daughter and her new husband for a visit next week.
We left Old Bahama Bay marina late yesterday morning. We only had a 25 nm trip to make to get down to Sunrise, and the waves were forecast to reduce in the afternoon, so we decided to leave a bit later than normal. The winds were easterly, so that meant we'd have most of our trip in the lee of the island. Unfortunately, it also meant that we'd probably have some more active seas as we rounded the point near Freeport harbour.
We got in to Sunrise around 1530, and got ourselves a spot on the long central floating dock.
By the time we got the boat sorted it was getting on to supper time, so we decided to take a walk to a small local restaurant called "Da Clapboard" and get something to eat there. We were happy to see lots of locals getting food there, which is usually a good sign. Dar and I both ordered something called "Chicken in a bag". We weren't quite sure what that was, but were pleasantly surprised when two tinfoil pouches were handed over to us. Each contained a quarter chicken, breaded and deep fried, sitting on a bed of french fries. It was very tasty, although a bit greasy for our tastes.
We took it easy today, puttering about with some boat chores and taking care of laundry. Tomorrow we'll probably head out to the beach for some swimming, and maybe borrow a couple of the marina bikes to do some exploring. Our guests will be arriving on Monday, and we're really looking forward to having them be here with us.
