Launch Day 2015

M/V September Dream is finally back in the water and ready for the 2015 boating season.

M/V September Dream finally back in the water

We were actually due to launch last week, on 05 May 2015, but Parks Canada had a different plan, and had not raised the water in our section of the Rideau River yet.

Low water on 05 May 2015
The picture above shows what the water level was on 05 May.  It should be just slightly below the dock, as you can see in the first picture, so it was down at least a foot and a bit.  This delayed all the launches by about a week, but at least most people will have their boats in for the long weekend.

The delay gave us a chance to get a bit more cleaning on the topsides of the hull done, and we managed to get rid of the 'ICW moustache'.  While it is a kind of badge of honour for the trip we took it does look a lot better without it. :-)

No more moustache!
Now that we're back in the water we're hoping to spend more time on the boat this summer than we did last year after our return.  We don't have any plans for any big trips this year, other than hopefully back up to the Ottawa lock wall for Canada Day.

I've lots of tasks to do this year.  First on the list were some pre-launch tasks, including a full bottom paint job, replacing the zinc on the prop shaft, and completing repairs of the damage to the bow thruster that resulted from the log strike on the Hudson river last year.

I've still got a nice list of maintenance, repairs and upgrades that I want to do, so that will keep me busy for most of the summer.  I'll try to get some posts up covering some of the more interesting projects.
